They feature highdesign rest areas, PV charging stations, and solar-powered lighting. Later, in 2021, the GZDG worked with ANAS again to design its Smart Road Centre in Rome, the first campus in Europe dedicated to the development and promotion of ANAS Smart Road and Green Island technologies. It serves as an innovative and eco-sustainable hub dedicated to the work of Nobel prize winner Rita Levi-Montalcini, an Italian neurobiologist whose research led to the discovery of nerve growth factor (NGF).
