Q4 2026

BUILD Q4 2026 Graduating from TU Delft, the Netherlands’ oldest, largest technology university, in 2010, Marc Brousse began his architecture career in 2016. After spending nearly a decade working with bigname architecture agencies, Marc established the eponymous Marc Brosse Studio last year. Through the studio, he looks to explore the creation of man and built society from different angles – combining scientific readings with dreamlike expressions. For Marc, architecture and nature are intrinsically linked, and he believes that cities, or ‘urban artefacts’, are all unique species within the living kingdom that is built society. The juxtaposition of these buildings and spaces, like the juxtaposition that exists within the natural world, is an example of an epigenetic programme. Essentially, epigenesis in this context is a development whereby each building not only echoes the existing environment, but also adds something new and dynamic in its own right. The synergy of nature and art and then architecture and man is something Marc channels, first in paper works made using Indian ink (rotring) and graphite. These are done freehand and with the naked eye. Each is also accompanied by urban poetry and a literary brief designed to resonate with the imagination of the viewer. Marc also complements his drawings with other forms of artistic expression, namely sculpture and video, with all of these works forging a link between grey matter and raw materials. Similarly, standing for a human and poetic architecture, one that is anchored to both time and environment, Marc Brousse Studio works across the housing, tertiary, culture, and rehabilitation sectors. It integrates an environmentally responsible approach to its work; one based on its use of sustainable materials and short supply chains. Whilst some people view ecology as a limitation, Marc sees it as perhaps his main source of inspiration, crafting elegant spaces where architecture and art allow for constructive sustainability. Every project completed by the studio, be it housing, offices, shops, public buildings, or schools, is a collaboration between Marc and the chosen craftsmen, engineers, and designers. The joint effort that goes into each stage of a project always leads to an aesthetic and technical coherence, with this common thread helping tie a building together. Clients can expect the power of the detail and design to reveal the essence of a place, and Marc is proud to create buildings that breathe, adapt, and tell living stories. Architecture should also inspire, connect, and respect existing heritage, with Marc recognising that the art of building for the future starts by understanding the tools of the past, which in turn evokes new spaces. This ethos has guided Marc as he has designed buildings and artworks Founded in 2025 by namesake architect Marc Brousse, Marc Brousse Studio is an architectural office that sits at the intersection of art, nature, and use. The spaces it designs convey meaning, and Marc combines technique with artistic sensitivity to create something that is wholly tailored, as well as being attentive to the light, materials, and life that it houses. As the studio is named as part of this year’s Architecture Awards, we take a closer look at what makes Marc Brousse Studio so unique. that are quite unlike anything we have seen before. Today, these are spread out across Belgium and France, both of which Marc has been immensely proud to call his home over the decades, and both of which have motivated him due to their styles. “Imagine, create, transmit.
