One of the Railtech Innovations team’s most recent projects was the completion of a challenging S&C (switches and crossings) renewal and rerail over the August 2020 bank holiday weekend. The company was commissioned by principal contractor, ASH Civil Construction for client, Docklands Light Railway, who had identified the need for a life expired swing nose S&C crossing to be replaced with a fixed nose cast crossing as well as the remainder of the S&C layout ironwork. Additionally as part of this project, the team rerailed 200 metres of plain line rail around the 60-metre curved radius, which was a challenge in itself.
