BUILD Q2 2019

53 Q2 2019 BUILD A common cliché is that a company’s staff are one of the most important assets of the firm. However, in a business where the core deliverable is professional advice, then this cliché is most certainly the case. When discussing the internal culture, Mike highlights how the firm ensure that each member of the team are up to date with the latest industry developments, and how they have developed a structured and continuous training programme. “At Geo-Environmental Services Limited, we encourage and support all staff in working towards and achieving chartered status, improving their qualifications and gaining new skills. To support this the Company has assigned a dedicated budget for training and through the appraisal process, set objectives aimed at promoting personal improvement which are reviewed bi-an- nually. There is a generous bonus worth up to 10% of salary for staff who can meet their objectives.” Bringing the interview to a closer, Mike signs off by envisioning what the future has in store for the firm. “2019 is going to be an interesting year for everybody in the UK. However, there are reasons for anybody operating in the construction sector to be optimistic. The need for new housing is anticipated to remain strong and there are many planned improvements to key infrastructure in the UK. However, we also anticipate a greater future emphasis on development of brown- field land, greater investment in environmental protection and in renewable energy. There is a lot of uncertainty in the market at the moment and I think that in the short term, we could see peaks and troughs in demand, but in the medium and longer term the outlook looks far brighter. “Ultimately, our aim is to continue the steady growth that that we have had over the last seven years, whilst still aiming to maintain the special ingredients that make Geo-Environmental a great place to work.” Contact: Mike Brown Company: Geo-Environmental Services Limited Telephone: 01273 832972 Website: www.gesl.net
