2018 Infrastructure Awards Build 19 rom Idealcombi’s humble beginnings in their parents’ barn in 1973, the two brothers Bent and Henning Søgaard have built a company with more than 600 employees. Today, the firm supplies the best windows and doors to clients based across Denmark, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Iceland and Faroe Island. Since the very start the mantra for everything the brothers did was quality; great craftmanship and no shortcuts or compromises on materials and manufacturing processes. The company has now been taken over by the next generation, Bent and Henning’s sons Martin and Mikael Søgaard, who continue to drive the development of modern window solutions with focus on quality, craftmanship, materials, technology and energy performance. As pioneers in the industry, Idealcombi introduced the use of the thermal core in its products back in 2010, improving the u-values, life expectancy, ease of install and ease of maintenance. With a minimum of maintenance Idealcombi windows will last more than 50 years, offering clients both quality and longevity. Recently, Idealcombi’s focus on developing better windows has led to the launch of the second-generation composite windows, Idealcombi Futura+ and Futura+i, that today make up the majority of the windows supplied to the UK market. The slim and elegant Futura+ and Futura+i, with an external profile of just 53 mm across inward and outward opening windows, are popular choices across projects in the whole of UK – hospitals, schools, office buildings and residential projects. For the new Cambridge North West development Idealcombi supplied Futura+ and Futura+i windows and doors for four out of eight lots. Moving forward the firm will continue to undertake new and exciting projects to build upon its current portfolio and expand its already vast wealth of experience in the window and door manufacturing space.
