Construction and Engineering Awards 2026 Leading Innovator in Aluminium Façade Substructures 2026 – Belgium & Façade Construction Innovation Award 2026 – Belgium With the global façade market continuing to set higher demands across areas like fire safety, thermal efficiency, and ease of installation, conventional substructures are no longer enough. Projects must instead have systems that are strong, adjustable, and can meet the standards of today and tomorrow. This is where Backforce comes in, with aluminium systems that balance technical reliability and practical applicability. Jan Beernaert, Backforce’s marketing manager, sat down with us following the company’s win in our Construction and Engineering Awards 2026. Based in the city of Eeklo, Backforce is a Belgian developer and manufacturer of aluminium support structures and suspension systems for ventilated façades. Drawing on the expertise of its solutions, the company is looking to build a new generation of façade substructures, blending technical performance, smooth installation, and longterm reliability to help construction professionals build smarter and with confidence. Having developed its products to respond to the real needs of the market, Backforce offers durable systems, efficient installation, and solutions designed to support performance and architectural freedom across its line of integrated façade solutions. This exceptional product range, which has been designed according to the company’s focus on completesystem thinking, makes these systems suited to new-build and renovation projects alike, as they boast a range of applications across a variety of building types. As Jan told us: “Today, Backforce offers three complementary solution families: STRCTR is our heavy-duty aluminium support structure for ventilated façades, FXTR is our integrated support and suspension system for façade cassettes, and RGL8 is our adjustable aluminium support system for residential construction.” He continued: “With STRCTR, FXTR, and RGL8, Backforce offers a complementary range for high-rise, mid-rise, renovation, and residential construction”, highlighting the value its solutions add. What makes this full-market approach all the more impressive is that Backforce is a young brand, albeit one with solid foundations. Initially founded within URSUS, itself a specialist in custom aluminium solutions for construction, Backforce is growing into an independent player approaching the industry with a proactive, forward-thinking mindset. Brand awareness and translating its expertise into concrete projects thus remain the greatest challenges for the company, but they are something the team are rigorously pursuing. Any façade builder, contractor, architect, or engineer looking for a well-conceived system that can help them improve performance, reduce on-site errors, and support their design freedom can find value in these solutions, which have been developed with the practical realities of façade construction in mind. This is why aluminium, which is lightweight, stable, and corrosion-resistant, is always used as the base of these systems. “What ties the Backforce systems together is a consistent commitment to aluminium as the basis for strong, durable and future-oriented façade constructions”, Jan explained. “On top of that, the material is fully recyclable – a logical choice in a construction sector that is firmly committed to sustainability and circularity. That choice is a response to a clear evolution, and aluminium fits seamlessly into this new reality.” By combining the material properties of aluminium with its thoughtful system design, Backforce develops solutions that perform high on a technical level but which also support cost efficiency and the environment. For example, concerning the latter, elements like smart profile geometries, limited contact points with the load-bearing wall, and fixing methods that can be applied after or through the insulation help reduce thermal bridging and strengthen performance, supporting the façade’s overall energy quality. All of this demonstrates that Backforce’s aluminium support structures are something truly exceptional, something people are already starting to notice, particularly construction professionals working in residential building. Jan shared: “For STRCTR, we have a partnership in the Benelux with Borgh, a specialist in façade fixings, and several promising projects in the pipeline. For RGL8, sales are also starting to gain traction.” Despite only being founded in 2025 and still very much in the start-up phase (along with its solutions), the value of Backforce’s technology and its way of working has caused the industry to stop and take notice. As a result, we are delighted to champion Backforce by recognising it as the Leading Innovator in Aluminium Façade Substructures 2026 – Belgium and with our Facade Construction Innovation Award 2026 – Belgium.
