The call came from the community centre, who told Ben that both of the units on the roof had been vandalised. This meant an emergency callout that same day, due to the units leaking refrigerant after being kicked over. The situation sparked a frenzy within the community, with local news picking up the story and armed police even intervening. All of this did little to deter the team at Brookman’s, who responded quickly to put things right. Ben told us: “A week later the new systems were replaced and security cages fitted.” Many credited Ben and the team as heroes, but his view is much more modest: “I was just happy to help and make sure the community could use the café once again.” All of this is fresh in Ben’s mind as this air-conditioning system was serviced recently, once again ensuring the community café remains a comfortable space in the wake of the heatwaves that have been gripping the UK over the last couple of months. Unsurprisingly, these heatwaves are keeping Ben and the team busy this summer, with business booming as a result. And though the hot weather will not last forever, Brookman’s will be back focusing on heating systems, boilers, and heat pumps by the time winter comes around. All of this means that the company is in demand all year round, and whatever the season, Ben and co. are always happy to help, regardless of what the job involves.
