Architecture Awards 2020

75 2020 Architecture Awards BUILD Jun20509 BUILD Excellence Award for Contemporary Traditional Architecture – UK Established in 2005 as an architectural firm dedicated to helping clients realise their dreams, Anthony Hope MCIAT has always held affordability as its central ethos. Without cutting any corners and offering excellence in customer service, Anthony Hope has been tailoring projects and fees according to budgets of clients within the residential, healthcare, industrial, commercial and non-profit sector for fifteen successful years. nthony Hope MCIAT arrived on the architectural scene in 2005, in a time when architectural services were only available for extortionate fees, preventing aspiring homeowners and families from realising their dream homes. Anthony Hope revolutionised the game, offering professional services with fees tailored to the budgets of their clients. Although the underlying business approach is commercial, Anthony Hope’s central philosophy revolves around helping people as it has done since the company’s inception and continues to do today, even after fifteen years of growth and development. What began as a firm specialising only in residential now covers all sectors of architecture, and the ultimate goal is to be able to utilise the funding of other projects in offering free services for disabled modifications and adaptions for residential clients. While the firm still has some way to go in achieving this, their ambition and determination never falters. Key to Anthony Hope’s success has been the recognition of the unique circumstances presented by each project, site, client and even cultural and technological environment. The mission of this architecture firm is to offer bespoke results without the feeling of being constrained. Anthony Hope’s team of expert architects achieve this by working closely with clients, ensuring they have realistic budgets and offering valuable engineering solutions order to attain their architectural ambitions. By communicating extensively in the design portion of the process it ensures that the client is fully satisfied with their project, which in turn reduces abortive costs during the construction phases. This methodology has proved successful throughout Anthony Hope’s fifteen years of operation, and the subsequent positive referrals have become the firm’s principal way of securing work. Each client is treated with honesty and respect, and if the firm believes they are unable to achieve their goals, then they are told as such. While this sometimes means clients look elsewhere for architectural assistance at this point, it guarantees customer return in later projects. Professional and personable service has ensured continued growth and success since the firm’s inception. From large multi-storey residential developments to small domestic extensions, the team at Anthony Hope take pride in every aspect of their work. This devotion is now being celebrated following their nomination at the BUILD Architecture Awards 2020 for a barn conversion with an extension in the Green Belt. This project presented challenges, being limited on how the barn could be A extended due to the amount of outbuildings, but Anthony Hope was able to deliver the modern extension of the building, complete with exposed elements of construction whilst also making the most of the stunning rural views to the rear of the property, just as the client requested. The client also wanted to be hands-on throughout the construction, and all specifications were tailored exactly to their requirements. The result was a stunning piece of architecture that far exceeded the client’s expectations. Despite similarly exciting projects that are currently in the works for Anthony Hope, Covid-19 has had a detrimental effect on the architectural industry on a global scale, with many sites having to be locked down and slowing the whole process to an almost complete halt. However, as the world returns to normal, Anthony Hope is gearing up to continue supporting clients more than ever, adapting their services so they and their clients can thrive in a post-Covid landscape. The pandemic has also resulted in some positive changes to the industry, principally the focus on its impact on the environment. With greater awareness of the need for a change to sustainable practices on a global scale, Anthony Hope is among the forerunners of the architectural industry that is strongly promoting sustainable, low-impact construction to clients, local authorities, developers and contactors. While the architecture industry may have had a slow start to making these changes, Anthony Hope is making major leaps today, including training the next generation of architectural staff in more sustainable architectural practices. As the architecture industry undergoes major societal shifts, we will be watching Anthony Hope as they continue to grow from strength to strength.
