Real Estate and Property Awards 2026 Founded in 2022 by French couple Frederic Baron and Noemie Bourdin-Habert, Esencia Desarrollos brings together their passion and expertise. Frederic’s background is in real estate development and architecture, while Noemie’s expertise lies in marketing and sustainability. United by a shared vision of what real estate could be, the couple have built a firm that does more than fill a gap in the market. We caught up with Noemie to learn what makes Esencia Desarrollos deserving of this acclaim. Best Sustainable Real Estate Development Firm 2026 – Mexico Contact Details: Contact: Noemie Bourdin-Habert Company: Esencia Desarrollos Web Address: https://www.esenciadesarrollos.com/ Frederic and Noemie recognised that real estate decisions often overlook the people who will live in a property, treating it primarily as a financial product for investors. Together, they developed their own vision of what a real estate project could be. They spent two years searching for the right location, visiting more than 20 countries before settling on a popular tourist area in Mexico that has been developed according to a sustainable vision since 1984. From the outset, they envisioned a project that would put people at its centre while respecting the land and the surrounding environment. This approach defines Esencia Desarrollos, a boutique development firm run by Frederic and Noemie with the support of external partners. Its light structure gives the couple the freedom to choose the architects, construction companies and other partners they feel are best suited to each project. Above all, the firm chooses partners who share its commitment to construction quality and sustainability. With the world’s population expected to reach ten billion in around two generations, decisions about development must protect as much natural land as possible and ensure that areas designated for urban growth are developed sustainably. In 2019, Esencia Desarrollos saw an example of this approach in Huatulco, on the coast of Oaxaca, where the firm's work is now based. Huatulco’s natural heritage is one of the destination’s greatest sources of pride and a major tourism asset. More than 70% of its territory is protected through six national parks. This commitment is one of the main reasons the couple chose to live there and to invest in the area through projects such as ALMA. ALMA brings together residents of eight nationalities, aged between 25 and 78, in properties ranging from $1 million to $2.3 million. Most are villas, with some apartments. The development is united by a focus on better living and was named the best sustainable residential project in the Americas by the International Property Awards last year. A second development, CANOPEA, has also recently launched, guided by the same principles. Across both projects, the couple are most proud of the strong connections they have built with Mexico and its people. Mexican clients account for almost half of the firm’s sales, and the firm takes pride in bringing the talent of Mexican architects, contractors and traditional craftspeople, including carpenters and stonemasons to a wider audience. Esencia Desarrollos aims to build trust and pride through purposeful decisions. From the beginning, it has sought to create homes that suit its Mexican clients’ tastes and way of life. As CANOPEA takes shape over the next five to ten years, the couple may also build a boutique hotel, perhaps further up the hills where their current developments are located. Whatever they decide to do next, they will take their time. These projects are deeply personal to both of them. Making money was never their primary objective; they wanted to show that development can be done better and that a high quality of life can exist in harmony with its surroundings. Esencia Desarrollos carries its commitment to sustainability through every stage of its projects, from design and construction to consideration of the community’s long-term needs. For this reason, the firm is a fitting recipient of the title Best Sustainable Real Estate Development Firm 2026 – Mexico. More information about its projects and commitment to sustainability is available on its website.
