Q4 2025

BUILD Q4 2025 Future ECOsystems is bringing nature-based solutions to the Swiss market in the form of living walls and green roofing, among other greening solutions to fit every customer need, such as stabilised moss and planted picture frames. Its product range is designed to help architects, business owners, and individuals access the benefits of plants in their neighbourhood, workplace, or home. Following the company’s success within the Architecture Awards 2025, we speak to the owner, Joshua Egerton to gain a deeper insight into its outstanding product offering that continues to appeal to customers such as Facebook, Fitbit, Jaguar, and Land Rover. Green Design Architecture Firm of the Year 2025 - Switzerland Contact Details: Company name: Future ECOsystems Contact name: Joshua Egerton Website: www.futureecosystems.com Founded in 2017, Future ECOsystems has established itself as the trusted designer and supplier of natural features to elevate indoor and outdoor spaces, including bespoke solutions that bring customer visions to life, as well as taking care of the planting, installation, and maintenance. One such bespoke project that Joshua wishes to highlight is UN Geneva, completed in 2021, which he describes as “visually stunning”. However, he tells us that it didn’t come without its challenges. “The client first contacted us asking for information on the possibility of installing a new green wall in the new building. The architect was against the idea as he had already had a bad experience with green walls. The client was adamant that they wanted the project to go ahead, so in effect, dismissed the architect from the decision process.” He continues, “We installed over 10,000 plants and have been maintaining the wall for two years. We are constantly receiving compliments on the project, and the benefits of cleaner air, greater wellbeing, sound, and air humidity are all greatly appreciated.” “Transform your personal or professional space with living features that have been shown to improve air quality, creating a sense of wellbeing, and adding vital biodiversity to cities. Our products play a crucial part in addressing the lack of greenery and wildlife in urban spaces.” Joshua tells us that in Switzerland, living walls have not yet been met with great optimism and a lot of the decision makers are still in more of a green-washing mindset, thus, he is still working to spread the message of the benefits for society and the environment. He says, “The developers are only interested in the project’s price and not what the project will do for the environment. We are, first and foremost, an environmental company focused on improved biodiversity, and, secondly, a provider of architectural solutions. “Once the industry understands that it's not just putting plants on buildings, it is all about what that combination of plants does for the urban environment and local animals, we will start to see these more efficient green walls being used in more and more urban projects.” Joshua has been contacting architects and developers to offer ‘lunch and learn’ style meetings, which have given him the opportunity to help businesses understand the industry of nature-based architectural solutions. He states, “We believe this [little optimism] is due to the lack of knowledge of how these systems are installed and maintained. Through our ‘lunch and learn’ programme, we are slowly changing this.” Ultimately, Future ECOsystems’ biggest advantage is that it has a globally proven system with hundreds of completed projects with customers who are thrilled with both the way they look and what they do for their surroundings. It is a company all about promoting the positive environmental and socio-economic benefits of plants – And it just so happens that its solution looks amazing, too! We are delighted to recognise Future ECOsystems as our Green Design Architecture Firm of the Year 2025 – Switzerland and look forward to seeing more companies adopt its brilliant solution to transform their own spaces for the better.
