We find out more about his practice in the wake of it being recognised in the Architecture Awards 2022 and receiving two prestigious accolades. t’s not easy to be innovative all of the time, however this is exactly what Wolfgang Reicht, Founder and Lead Architect of Wolf Reicht Architects, excels in. Having graduated from the Technical University of Graz, Austria, with a distinction in Architecture, Wolfgang knew from an early age that his passion for building and designing with flair would take him far. After forming a partnership with Coop Himmelblau and practising exploring his love of design for more than two decades, Wolfgang finally opened his own practice in 2013, and the rest is history. Today, his firm works with an interdisciplinary team of highly skilled members on a holistic idea of designing a world built on impeccable creativity, technology and sustainability. “Like in nature, multiplicity of simple interactions leads to complex systems,” Wolfgang enthuses. “We are inspired by hybrid and flexible designs and believe in their synergetic effects.” Wolfgang rose through the ranks in the architectural world quickly, becoming internationally renowned for his incredible works and being accepted into the Chamber of Architects in Hessen, Germany as well as a member of the Chamber of Architects in Vienna. Based in Austria, Wolf Reicht Architects is today well-known for taking on incredibly complex projects and turning them into something quite astounding. Focusing on public buildings, such as museums, cultural centres, and sports centres, Wolfgang and his team throw themselves passionately into the design phase in order to create something that has a long-lasting and timeless appeal, and have, over the years, built themselves a reputation for excellence. And bringing a sustainable future into the mix too is just a small part of Wolfgang’s overall plan. “From the first sketch on we are integrating smart energy systems, thinking of additional benefits for now and the future,” he elaborates. “Following a concept that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
