We caught up with Architect, Doug Burdge, who revealed more about his innovative designs, especially following the firm’s recent success in BUILD’s Design & Build Awards where they were selected as the “Ones to Watch” for the USA. Moving forward, Doug continues to head up some of the most sought-after projects in the country, spawning from multimil- lion-dollar homes throughout California, Montana and Texas and Idaho, to the prestigious Auberge group’s latest resort in Palm Springs. After completing work on the lower Bel Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades, he went on to design the Native Hotel, The New Surfrider in Malibu and the new Malibu Inn, currently being built next to The Surfrider on Pacific Coast Highway. This com- ing year, the Auberge group will reveal Doug’s work in Palm Springs, CA. With the recent “Woolsey Fire” that scorched over 100,000 acres of the Santa Monica mountains, Malibu is now having to pick up the pieces and re-building numerous family homes and lives here. BAA is right at the center of all that is happening and working closely with the City of Malibu. Some great re-building ideas are already being formed. Doug shared, “While it’s still being processed for most of us in Malibu, the city has reopened, debris is being moved and we have begun the rebuild process, to Re-BU Malibu.” Doug signs off by highlighting what the future holds for BAA. “Malibu is a very special place in which to live, work and play.
