Facilities Management Awards 2025

BUILD Facilities Management Awards 2025 Many companies and institutions find it difficult to manage their real estate portfolios. Well aware of this, CORPORATE Real Estate Management, which is based in the Netherlands, offers advice and assistance to all types of organisations on how to get the most out of their properties, delivering services such as portfolio analysis, strategic and asset management, financing advice, and more. As this award suggests, underpinning all of these services is the belief that real estate and urban facility management go hand in hand. Jan is an expert in property management and organisational finance, something reflected in the esteemed international reputation he boasts. Having received a PhD from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Jan’s experiences include research and teaching business and finance at various universities and working with numerous industry clients to outline best practices for commercial real estate – complementing his research and consultancy assignments. This expertise serves as the foundation of his company’s distinction in this space. ““I studied social real estate at the TIAS School for Business and Society and graduated by adapting the INK model, known from quality assurance in the real estate sector. I still use this model, which I call the ‘Real Estate INK Balanced Model’ in my daily work. From his position at the helm of CORPORATE Real Estate Management, Jan serves as both the manager/director of the company and as a consultant for organisations in need of support with property management and strategy. These may be commercial parties, public authorities, or those in the healthcare and education sectors. Regardless of whether he is managing for a corporation or a non-profit, Jan recognises that the objective – to use real estate as a business asset – remains the same, just seen from an altered perspective. Insights such as this can be found in Jan’s book, Urban Facility Management, published by Routledge. Explaining this in more detail, Jan told us: “This is the first interdisciplinary book with a holistic approach to urban facility management (UFM), based on recent scientific insights and analysis over a defined period of eight years of research. With this book, I share insights on UFM together with several other authors and specialists worldwide.” Topics covered include a comprehensive introduction to UFM; how UFM adds value by developing sustainable, resilient, and vibrant cities; and ways UFM promotes economic growth and ensures resources are used both efficiently and effectively. Without giving too much away, Jan’s findings outline how UFM improves the quality of life in cities by balancing economic progress with environmental protection and social cohesion. “A podcast is being made for each chapter of the book. The first one has already been released.” Much of the work covered in the book – especially the 18 studies Jan have it carried out between last year and this year by speaking to experts and scientists from the Netherlands, South Africa, Iran, China, Italy, and England – has been acclaimed internationally, with Jan even receiving six awards over the past 18 months for his research. Perhaps the most significant of these saw Jan presented with an award by prof. Dr Rashid Al Ameri in the Global Economic Awards earlier this year, reflecting the remarkable work he is doing in the field. To conclude on the legacy Jan Veuger is leaving behind, this visionary has recognised that the future of urban planning will increasingly depend on UFM’s role in shaping urban environments capable of responding to the challenges of the 21st century. In this way, CORPORATE Real Estate Management is leading the charge towards a better and brighter future, making it a fitting recipient of this award celebrating its innovative streak.
