BUILD Construction & Engineering Awards 2020 70 ounded in 2015, Prime Carpentry have grown in stature with over 20 members of staff now working for the firm, a far cry from just the two at the beginning. Working throughout Munster, the team are renown for delivering projects on time and in a professional manner. To start, Charlie provides us with a brief overview of the firm and offers more insight into its typical clientele. “Prime, now five years up and running have worked for some of the biggest construction companies in cork. Working to tight deadlines, while delivering high quality carpentry services, we remain committed to our clients in all of our jobs. With a reputation based on reliability, safety, and time, we have become one of the most highly regarded carpenters across the region. “Currently, we have live projects in Ballinglanna and Glanmire, including a residential scheme of 600 units for the O’Flynn Group. With sales in this scheme being extremely strong and Carpenters of the Year 2020 - Munster Based in Cork, Prime Carpentry specialise in large construction projects in the housing, education, and commercial sectors. Following their success in the Construction & Engineering Awards 2020, we got in touch with Charlie O’Brien to find out more. F Sep20448 positive, the tempo on this site has been flat out. Everything on this site is finished to the highest possible standard, so from the joisting/flooring, to the first and second fix up, even to the roofs and roof coverings, it is a very busy site and Prime feel very lucky to be a part of it. Additionally, we have two live schemes for CField Construction in Kinsale and Watergrasshill. As a team, we were lucky enough to be nominated by Clancy Construction for a 24 bed ICU hospital up in Croom which kept us going throughout the lockdown. Having just completed 90 units for MMD Construction down in Carrigaline and Kinsale, we are continuing to see a demand for our services.” Prior to undertaking any new projects, it is important for Prime to carry out the necessary planning so a schedule can be put in place, as Charlie goes on to explain. “At the start of any project we look at everything from start to finish, and we go over it and figure out how many men will be needed to complete the job. With that, we go through and allocate the right lads for each job. As a team we work with a high tempo, but we also have our own in-house safety officer making sure we are working as close as possible to our RAMS.” Across the Munster region, competition in the carpentry sector continues to evolve and as Charlie points out, teamwork has played a huge role behind the success of the firm. “No other crew can match us in Ireland, and we are lucky to have these lads working for us. Hard work and respect is what I think differentiates Prime from the rest. With everyone pulling together to get the job done, we continue to reap the rewards from our staff’s dedication and endeavour.” Finally, Charlie comments on the future of Prime, looking ahead to the remainder of 2020 and beyond. “Moving forward, our future plans are just to keep things tight and manage our workload efficiently, so the lads are not overloaded in the coming years.” Company: Prime Carpentry Contact: Charlie O’Brien Web: www.prime-capnetry.ie
