9 Drawing from almost two decades of advanced manufacturing expertise, E&L Enterprises leads the charge in exceptional steel fabrication. Working with both public and private clients, its team transforms architectural concepts into structurally sound, build-ready steel solutions. Renowned for delivering projects that exceed expectations in quality, safety, and timely completion, E&L Enterprises has been recognised for its exceptional work in the Construction and Engineering Awards 2026. We took a closer look below. E&L Enterprises began in 2008, specialising in blasting, galvanising, and industrial spray painting. With a focus on quality and precision from the very beginning, the company quickly evolved to earn a reputation for unrivalled reliability and craftsmanship. As demand for larger and more complex steel structures grew, E&L Enterprises expanded its capabilities to include full structural fabrication and assembly. In 2018, the company moved to a 15,000 m² purpose-built facility in Hal Far, equipped with advanced CNC machinery, including waterjet and plasma cutting systems, along with specialised equipment dedicated to beam processing. Today, E&L Enterprises delivers complete steel solutions, its services ranging from design and fabrication to finishing and installation. The company delivers large-scale, complex projects, such as aviation hangars, industrial plants, logistics centres, connecting bridges, staircases, multi-storey buildings, vertical extensions, free-formed structures, and large-span steel frameworks. These projects are delivered to clients across a wide range of industries, spanning aviation, infrastructure, energy, and commercial construction. Equipped to handle all stages of the steel process, E&L Enterprises offers an end-toend, seamless service to its clients, whether they require the full process or just select stages of production. Its first stage is Design and Engineering, wherein its team works closely with clients and industry experts to develop structural 3D simulations, conduct structural analysis, and ensure complete compliance with local regulations and international standards. This is followed by Fabrication, using stateof-the-art CNC machinery to cut, drill, weld, and assemble components with millimetre precision. From there, E&L Enterprises conducts Surface Preparation and Coating, wherein it provides and certifies corrosion-resistant coatings, including blasting, galvanising, powder coating, liquid spray painting, and fire-resistant treatments such as vermiculite and intumescent paint. This ensures long-term durability, fire protection, and resistance to harsh environmental conditions. Finally, E&L Enterprises enters the Installation and Assembly phase. After every component is fabricated and finished in the facility, the team ensures that the structure is positioned, aligned, and secured according to the project’s technical requirements. This is the most critical stage of the steelwork process, but experienced crews and dedicated lifting equipment enables E&L Enterprises to manage installations efficiently and safely across industrial, commercial, and large-scale developments. This meticulous process, supported by cutting-edge machinery and a dedicated staff, has earned E&L Enterprises the CNC Steel Processing Excellence Award 2026 – Malta. This process is undertaken by a highly skilled team, who each operate with the mission of ensuring that every project is executed with precision and efficiency. This team allows E&L Enterprises to maintain high standards of quality control across all project phases, comprised of certified welders and fabrication specialists, seasoned project managers, engineering experts who specialise in precision design and structural analysis, and a dedicated team of designers and draughtsman who ensure technical accuracy from concept to fabrication. The E&L Enterprises team utilises state-of-theart machinery and fabrication technologies to deliver precision-crafted solutions that integrate seamlessly into complex structures. This includes fibre laser, plasma, and waterjet cutting; automated drilling, sawing, milling, threading, and notching for steel places; a fourroll plate bending machine and a four-roller beam bender; an NC powder coating plant with a cutting-edge conveyer system, a blasting booth and a spray booth; and a 15,300 m² facility with high-capacity lifting and precision assembly infrastructure. This wide range of cutting-edge machinery means that E&L Enterprises is capable of handling high-volume steel fabrication whilst maintaining strict standards of quality. Its facility operates with a streamlined production process that allows its team to process up to 200 tonnes of structural steel per month, run multiple largescale projects simultaneously without delays, and leverage automated machinery to minimise human error and speed up production cycles. E&L Enterprises combines its industry-leading facilities with strict industry compliance, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability for even the most demanding projects. The company holds ISO 9001 Certification, EN 1090-2 EXC3 Certification, ISO 3834-2 Welding Certification, CE Marking for Structural Steelwork, and certification for Specialist Coatings and Fireproofing Compliance. These certifications allow the team to integrate into large-scale international projects with the guarantee that its fabricated components meet all necessary regulatory and compliance standards. The company’s unparalleled capabilities were demonstrated within the development of the Msida Creek Flyover Project. This project aims to alleviate traffic congestion at one of Malta’s busiest junctions by replacing existing traffic light systems with a flyover. It includes the construction of a 200-meter-long flyover equipped with sound barriers and the development of new public spaces, such as a 19,375-square-metre garden. With a total project value of €38.5 million, the development required highly engineered steel structures capable of withstanding ongoing traffic. E&L Enterprises was entrusted with €6.1 million in steel fabrication and assembly, contracted to fabricate and supply the steel structures essential for the flyover’s construction. In addition to producing the steel beams and components required for the flyover to the highest standards of safety and durability, the company was responsible for applying corrosion-resistant coatings to all steel elements to extend the structure’s lifespan and coordinating the timely delivery of fabricated components to align with the project’s construction schedule. As with any construction project, E&L Enterprises encountered its fair share of challenges throughout the process. Operating within a densely populated area necessitated complete adherence to strict safety and environmental protocols, so E&L Enterprises implemented comprehensive safety measures to mitigate any possible risks. At the same time, community engagement was essential; addressing public concerns and minimising disruption were critical. The company collaborated with stakeholders to promote transparent communication and efficient project execution, ensuring that the local public were not overlooked throughout the project. The completion of the Msida Creek Flyover Project is just one shining example of E&L Enterprises’ industry-leading capabilities. Since its inception, the company has worked tirelessly to set benchmarks of excellence throughout the steel fabrication industry, combining precision, reliability, and a client-focus approach to deliver lasting value to clients around the world. For its significant contributions to the field, completing every project safely, efficiently, and to specification, E&L Enterprises has been named Malta’s Steel Fabrication Business of the Year 2026.
