BUILD Construction and Engineering Awards 2025 Based in Toronto, Canada, the team at VETTA Windows is committed to supporting a climate-resilient world. Using natural materials, building science, and superior quality and design, the company helps ensure homes are safe, healthy, comfortable and energy-efficient, whilst still being beautiful. VETTA’s custommade products are designed to last a lifetime. Company Vice President, Carolyn Sedgwick, tells us more. Best Sustainable Wood Window & Door Manufacturer 2025 - Canada VETTA Windows has been supplying superior quality products to the building industry since 2015. The company is a leading supplier of eco-friendly doors and windows whose products have been used in numerous high-performance projects across North America. Carolyn tells us: “Our aluminium clad, triple-glazed, solid wood windows and doors are made from PEFC-certified, sustainably harvested GLT (glue laminated mass timber). VETTA windows and doors have featured in over 500 high performance, Passive House, Net Zero and Living Building Challenge projects. We’ve supplied every type of property from multi-unit affordable housing to luxury homes and iconic National Park pavilions.” Offering a wide range of options, including casement and tilt-turn windows, lift and slides, highsecurity entry doors, and wall-to-wall bi-folds, VETTA product designs are unique. Carolyn explains more: “Our windows and doors are available in standard depth as well as slim frame profiles. Our windows differ from others through the significant strength of the GLT construction. Combined with 2” thick triple-glazed IGUs (insulated glass units), this allows for superior strength, resiliency and thermal performance above Energy Star®, and up to Passive House Institute’s Cold Climate Certified” VETTA’s clients are serious about building performance, and the company’s proven results see customers returning time and again. The company’s commitment to healthy living spaces and its use of natural materials elevates VETTA above many of its competitors. As Carolyn explains: “Like fast fashion trends in clothing, our industry is dominated by cheap, short-life products, which create enormous environmental and health impacts. We want to offer a better solution.” Using PEFC-certified wood, harvested from sustainably managed forests, protects ecosystems, wildlife, and watersheds. It also naturally absorbs and stores atmospheric carbon, helping to combat climate change. The use of wood, water-based colours and a focus on energy efficiency allows VETTA to offer industry leading low-carbon windows and doors. For example, VETTA’s factories in Poland custom mill their frames on highly efficient CNC machines, then finish with non-powered and electric hand tools. The company’s efforts to drive energy use and cost out of its supply change has also helped it remain cost-competitive through recent periods of inflation and economic uncertainty. For Carolyn and the team, the early days of working on each new project are the most exciting. Every project is unique, so learning about a customer’s vision and requirements is the key to success. Many conversations are required with homeowners, builders, and architects to bring each project to fruition. For example, VETTA recently partnered with ENVE Builders on a 14,000 sq. ft home in Austin, Texas, which features windows and doors measuring up to 10 ft tall and 20 ft wide. The project presented significant challenges to ensure the home remains at an ambient temperature in the Southern heat. Working in conjunction with builders and architects, the team ensured solar heat gain from the glazing was kept to a minimum through clever building design and specialised heat-reflective glass coatings. The company continues to invest in research that enhances building resiliency. For example, wildfires are top of mind for many of VETTA’s West Coast customers like Todd Talbot and Bundle Design Studio. While glass enhancements greatly improve a window’s ability to protect a home in a wildfire zone, the frames often warp or buckle, allowing the heat and flame in. VETTA believes its solid wood frames made from GLT may offer additional structural benefits for wildfire protection and is currently testing these possibilities. Carolyn said: “We are grateful to our clients and partners who believe in us and continue to work with us, as well as to our talented VETTA team. Together, we have been fortunate to accomplish great things.” Contact: Carolyn Sedgwick Email: [email protected] Company: VETTA Windows Web Address: https://www.vettawindows.com/ VETTA Windows @habitstudio (left) and @rikopassivehomes (bottom)
