We invited Sam Crowe to tell us more about how his firm supports this diverse range of clients. As evidence of this, Sam offers his depiction of his latest project, and explores how he and his team have worked to support their client despite numerous challenges and restraints. “Currently here at OCR, we are completing an educational project converting an existing late Victorian building into a temporary academy for secondary school age students for the Harris Federation. The building had been vacant for a number of years and was in disrepair throughout. As such, it has posed several key challenges the first of which was the level of disrepair and lack of existing building information. “With the tight budget we were given, we thought creatively and managed to conserve the original building transforming it into an up-to- date school which conforms to all current safety and technical standards. The project involved a lot of pre- contract design and consideration, working with the end user, Ofsted and other stakeholders. Once on site, we worked closely with the construction team, delivering high quality Project Management and technical due diligence to complete the works to programme and within budget. “Overall, we are extremely proud of the end result; the beautiful historic building is now an open and light space with modern facilities that complements its original features. Coming in on time and within budget also made the education provider extremely happy too.” Moving forward, OCR looks set to undertake even more exciting projects that will offer it many exciting opportunities for further prosperity and enhancement, as Sam proudly concludes. “Over the next 18 months, we are very excited to be working on a large public sector scheme which comprises the refurbishment of a Grade II listed building for cultural and community use.
