Architecture Awards 2026

Architecture Awards 2026 Best Emerging Hospitality Design & Build Practice 2026 – UK & Bespoke Interiors Innovation Award 2026 – UK Orchestrating the design and build of a project can often feel overwhelming, and that is why SODA Group strive to take the stress away from their clients, making the whole process as smooth and simple as possible. Following its dual recognition in this programme, Connor Prestwood, SODA Group’s marketing and operations co-ordinator, caught up with us more. Based in Wakefield, England, SODA Group is an interior design and fit-out company operating nationally. Its endto-end service, including reactive maintenance, make it a choice partner for clients in multiple sectors, including the hospitality industry, retail and the corporate sphere. All clients benefit from its turnkey service, which sees projects completed swiftly and effectively. This was the case earlier this year, in a project the team carried out at Motor Isle Bar & Grill in the Isle of Man. With the 2026 Isle of Man TT providing a clear and exciting target, the team worked to an ambitious deadline designed to have the business ready to welcome customers ahead of the event in late May. Tasked with covering everything from full project management to co-ordinating teams of local and mainland contractors, the project ran for ten weeks on-site, with SODA managing everything through a blend of inperson meetings and video calls. Working on the island also meant taking a slightly different approach to logistics and coordination than a typical mainland project. For instance, limited suppliers and materials on the island meant the project was reliant on regular deliveries of fittings, fixtures, equipment, and manpower. The island location also meant allowing extra time for materials to reach the site, with occasional delays requiring the team to adjust schedules and keep the project moving forward. Despite these challenges, SODA’s pledge to deliver stress-free services at every turn saw the project completed as expected, a testament to the capabilities of the team behind the Best Emerging Hospitality Design & Build Practice 2026 – UK. This is not the only example of excellence displayed by SODA Group across its projects, and another fitting display of its talents can be seen at the Tiger Inn, a local pub in Beverley, Yorkshire. Within the constraints of this beautiful Grade II building, the team had to create a fresh and inviting pub without sacrificing the history or character of the location. This meant working with specialist materials and collaborating closely with local authorities to ensure that the finished restoration was both correct and sympathetic. As Connor explained: “The design had to appeal to a wide demographic, including young professionals, families, and retirees, and the project needed to balance the client’s vision, customer comfort, listed building rules, and SODA’s high standards of workmanship.” This had to be achieved across the bar’s three internal areas, which needed their own feel but also to work together to offer a unified customer experience. Once again, the team succeeded, executing a seamless commercial refurbishment that saw modern fixtures removed, traditional features restored, and the character of the pub brought back. In the months since, business at the location has continued to boom. More than a testament to their ability, these projects demonstrate SODA Group’s dedication to approaching every project individually. Connor added: “We understand that no matter the brief, every project is different, influenced by location, history, and building, just to name a few.” From here, it is simply a case of working closely with the client to listen to what they want and then help them to bring that vision to life. Set apart through its blend of high standards, attention to detail, and a reliable service, SODA Group is looking ahead to an exciting 2026, building off the success it has continued to experience since introducing its own build and maintenance divisions in 2024. The aim is to continue to grow in the right way, supporting its team, its clients, and the quality of work as the firm goes from strength to strength in the UK’s architecture landscape.
