The client is seeking to transform this space into a Christan private school, modernising the space without losing sight of the character or history it has, given that the original school dates all the way back to the early 1900s. Diving deeper into some of the obstacles the firm is having to overcome as it works towards this, Suné told us: “The site is large and encompasses more than 30 buildings with different architectural styles built at different times, the earliest predating 1900 and the latest from 2005. As such, there is an immense challenge in respecting the heritage value of the buildings whilst setting up a framework to make the site intelligible for the users and express the ideals of the new school.” It’s good then that this team welcome a challenge.
