11 Recycling & Waste Management Awards 2020 BUILD ounded in 2019, PLAST SRL has grown to become a leading company in the field of injection plastics for the most demanding of markets. To start, Alessandro gives us a brief overview of the firm and offers more insight into some of its specialisms. “PLAST SRL is a company of the Team Service Group. As a recycling centre that largely engages with recycling and regenerating post-consumer plastic, we aim to separate post-consumer plastic from polymer and colours to obtain regeneration products. Moreover, these separate products will then become secondary raw material, which places PLAST SRL as a central point for circular economy. “Additionally, we are also the only industrial establishment dealing with post-consumer plastic in the whole Rome metropolitan area. The industrial establishment occupies a surface area of 25 thousand square metres and hosts more than 130 staff with a total production capacity of about 100.000 ton/year.” Remaining at the forefront of innovation in the plastics industry today is crucial, particularly when you consider how competition can rapidly arise. As Alessandro points out, doing so enabled the firm to stay ahead of its closest rivals. “Thanks to our strategic location we are the focus point for post-consumer plastics in the Metropolitan area of Rome and the Lazio Region. Through high performance technologies (i.e. optical readers, ballistic separator etc.), combined with our well- trained professional research team, we have been able to offer clients a unique selling point with the separation of different post-consumer plastic products. “Part of these products are used in our centre to produce directly secondary raw material, which are then used subsequently for new recycled plastic products. Over the last 12 months thanks to our hard work, we were able to save about 192.500 tonnes of primary raw materials.” The recent outbreak of COVID-19 has brought many challenges to firms across the globe, however as Alessandro goes on to explain the business has thrived from the opportunities presented to them throughout the pandemic. “During the recent lockdown for COVID-19, our centre was always in full production because it fell under the category of a strategic industry which adopted all necessary safety precautions for our employees.” As an established name in the plastics industry, PLAST SRL is a recycling centre which engages with recycling and regenerating post-consumer plastic across Italy. Following on from their success in the Recycling & Waste Management Awards 2020, we got in touch with Alessandro Pepe to find out more. F In regards to the internal culture in place at PLAST SRL, there is a focus on teamwork to achieve targets but also the notion of being valued as Alessandro goes on to explain. “As a whole, our way of working is mainly focused on shared goals, collaboration and mutual responsibilities.
