The practice has an international clientele, with clients from all corners of Europe, the Middle East, Canada and the United States. Stuart outlines the services the firm provides to these clients and how it works to create the outcome they desire. “Renovation of historic and character properties is our speciality at Parkes Architecture. We are always keen to expand our knowledge and we endeavour to focus our skills on achieving the best design solution for each client and each project. “Through our work, we often work on historic and listed buildings, the latest example being the renovation of the Buildings containing a former restaurant and hotel in St Yrieix le Perche to form a new restaurant and 5 apartments. The project was a challenging mix of medieval through to early twentieth century constructions amazingly a 14th century wine cellar was discovered under the bar floor. Now open the restaurant offers 80 covers and is an unqualified success the building has been beautifully renovated by an excellent team of Artisans.” With regards to the future, Stuart believes that Parkes Architecture has many great opportunities for further growth and expansion. “Looking ahead, we remain very optimistic for the future for France and for Europe. The challenge we all face are climate change and the practice meets or exceeds French Building Regulations, in terms of the thermal values, carbon neutrality and green energy production on all projects. We use the latest BIM Software in the studio and work with a team of specialist engineers to obtain the best solution for each project. “Currently we are working on a large renovation project in the east of the Dordogne, a mixed-use development containing apartments; business spaces housed within a former church, swimming pools, open landscape and eco homes.
